If you have ever had an abortion, you probably feel very much
alone with the memories of your experience. Or perhaps you often
think of what your child would look like or would be doing now
when you see other children/adults their age. Perhaps the
father of the baby has long since passed out of your life.
Or it seems as if no one wants to hear about your pain anymore.
So you've taken all those complicated feelings surrounding the
abortion decision and stuffed them down and tried not to think
about them, right? These symptoms are not uncommon and are part
of what psychologists classify as Post Abortion Stress
(Syndrome). Sometime down the road you may begin to experience
some of the following symptoms:
- Anxiety
- Regret/Guilt
- Sadness/Sorrow
- Feelings of Loss
- Drug/Alcohol Abuse
- Inability to Forgive Yourself
- Desire for Secrecy about the Abortion
|
- Shame/Secrecy
- Nightmares
- Anger/Rage
- Suicidal Impulses
- Repeat Abortions
- Emotional Pain
- Self Destructive Behavior
- Intimacy Issues
